Dragon Boat to join Iloilo Paraw Regatta fest

City residents at Iloilo will get to see Philippine Dragon Boat team when it sails on Friday on Iloilo River during 40th Ruby Anniversary of Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival.

This fest will take place from February 12-19 and will be having more than hundred sailboats taking part and fighting for honors in country’s largest sailboat race on Sunday on 35 km Iloilo Strait.

Jed Patrick Mabilog who Mayor & district Representative of city lone – Jerry P. Treñas will be leading celebration which will see 75th charter anniversary of this city.

Chairman of Paraw Regatta Foundation – Manuel Villa announced that cash prizes will be given to winners of race in 2 categories: A category for the sailboats not more than twenty four feet long  & B category for the sailboats which are more than twenty four feet long.

Exhibition Dragon Boat has been sponsored by John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University. It also sponsors Paraw Regatta paddling and rowing competition.

The other activities lined up for this event include Pinta Layag, photo exhibits, paraw miniature making contest, hunt for the 2012 Miss Paraw Regatta, Sinamba sa Regatta dance & song competition, torch parade, paraw slalom, deep sea fishing competition, rapid chess tourney, ultimate beach Frisbee, beach volley ball, amongst others.
