BoatUS saddened by Nancy Michelman’s death

BoatUS saddened by Nancy Michelman’s death

BoatUS (Boat Owners Association of the United States) are saddened due to Publisher and President Nancy Michelman's death on Friday after battling with cancer for a year. Nancy was an altruistic leader who laughed all the time with a rare gift to inspire others making them work together and get the best of them. Nancy was overall blessed with energy and optimism all the time. Nancy called herself a Jersey girl and began sailing at camps in Maine when she was a child and later on developed a craving for boating. In 1989, she was the upcoming star with AAA, and Richard Swartz, the founder of BoatUS, was taken aback by her intelligence and energy. He did hire her immediately and made her run the Membership Department of the BoatUS, partner relationship management and also aid in the growth  [...]

One dead and seven survive a freakish boat accident

One dead and seven survive a freakish boat accident

Officials reported 7 people including a girl aged 4 to have survived 20 gruesome sea hours by holding onto their turtled boat and a blue cooler when their boat turned while on a fishing escapade off Florida Keys. There were reports also of a missing elderly woman aged 80 years that was with them who now is feared to have drowned. The three women reported to the rescuers saying they lacked time to snaffle lifejackets for all with the exception of the 4-year-old girl. They told a wave toppled the boat off in the rainy waters on Saturday afternoon. The 3 men on the boat tried helping the elderly lady, but they were unable to do so, and the woman was seen going down soon after the 22 footer capsized. The old lady happened to be one of the boater’s mother. The sailor tried hard to get a  [...]

Kilrush launches first ever all-women crew

Kilrush launches first ever all-women crew

On Tuesday, Kilrush lifeboat did launch an all-women crew. This was the first time in the facility's history spanning 14 years that saw no males on the lifeboat. Launching Authority Deputy, Vincent Crowley, told it was a very historical and proud moment for all the Station members. Pauline Dunleavy, helmswoman, did launch the boat in command. Csilla Trungel assisted Pauline. Csilla had returned back to station a week ago after a one-week completion of training intensively at Poole and eventually passing all the examinations. Probationary crewmembers Eve Brennan-Browne and Brid O’Mahoney joined the intensive training with them. Ever since the station’s inception, there were only men aboard the lifeboat except Paula Dunleavy, though there were some women before, but left later due  [...]

Everglades 350cc Review

Innovation at its best when it comes to Everglades 350cc, and coupled with 350 triple horsepower engines, she is an extremely fast boat. Cutting edge designs are standard in the Everglades 350cc. To begin with, the Everglades 350cc is the first in boat industry to offer foldable fighting chair and 2 additional chairs that could be tucked hence making her more spacious. The anti-fatigue shock-absorbing system is phenomenal as well as Smart Boat computerized electrical system and the security panel at helm. There’re plenty of things noteworthy of the Everglades 350cc. An electrical filler table fills the seating area that could be converted to sun lounge. There’s ample space to walk around that could be effectively utilized when people are invited aboard the boat. If one is a troller,  [...]

The Everglades 350EX Review

The Everglades 350EX Review

Everglades Boats have proudly unveiled the Everglades 350EX their 2nd express model that was launched after some time. A glimpse is fair enough for the poetry it creates. Everglades proudly exclaim their new boat saying it's extraordinary, exceptional and exciting. The Everglades 320EX was introduced before the Everglades 350EX. Once on the 350EX, it's definitely exhilarating. The cockpit area looks oversized, and there's plenty of room for a fighting chair and also room for big ones. An honest conclusion would be there’s room aplenty aboard the 350EX and that includes a sizable cabin bunk, six feet four inches of headroom clearance and also the bait rigging area looks pretty spacious. Embarking on a sea voyage wouldn’t get better with dimensions set primarily to broaden one’s horizons.  [...]

Think before you Sink

Think before you Sink

It's always a hearty laugh seeing someone cleaning up after their unused boat of many days just went down. The situation might look a bit silly and unwanted, but could be avoided if one pays little attention to small steps taken to avoid the same. Boats often sink at the docks and precautions must be taken to not end up like this. The primary reason for boats sinking often is the carelessness to not keep it clean, though the advice doesn't emphasize on how well a boat is polished or how bright the boat shines, but just cleaning up common debris and dirt. Common ways for boats to sink could be the dirt and grime accumulated in bilge pump. Another way to think of it could be clogging of leaves in scuppers when a boat’s left too long in the water. By keeping the boat clean in this way,  [...]
